Telephony networks are more and more integrated in the existing network infrastructure of the company. The MiVoice MX-ONE Linux Security course was developed to transfer the necessary knowledge to evaluate and understand the probably resulting security problems and how to protect the telephony network.

Audience

The course is designed for Service Partner and customer engineers who are required to install, configure and maintain the MiVoice MX-ONE.

Prerequisites

The Linux Security course is designed for Service Partner and customer engineers with about 6 to 12 month of Linux and MiVoice MX-ONE field experience.

Objectives

The course provides in-depth information on security features of SLES 10. With the knowledge delivered in the course engineers can secure MiVoice MX-ONE with much more efficiency.
The course covers security technologies like VPN, IPsec, Firewalling as well as knowledge about how to secure the access to important system services.
One of the main parts of the course is to understand firewalling with iptables and to create an appropriate setup to protect the system.

After the course the participating engineers are able to set up a firewall and configure the appropriate filter rules to protect the MiVoice MX-ONE. They have the knowledge to maintain and troubleshoot the firewall.
Furthermore they can secure access via SSH so that remote access from authorized maintenance personal is allowed but unauthorized access is not possible.
They have a better understanding about security relevant functionality in SLES 10 and how to use and configure it to protect the MiVoice MX-ONE.
