TOP LOC 0002 MiVoice MX-ONE Linux Advanced

 

With the knowledge of this course the engineers are able to configure the MiVoice MX-ONE that important messages are sent by email.
Furthermore they learn how a specific log messages (i. e. an special alarm) can start a script (which fixes the cause of the alarm and clears the alarm).
The knowledge about scripting enables the engineers to write Scripts to ease configuration and maintenance of the MiVoice MX-ONE a lot (with a script hundreds of extensions can be created in a few seconds).
Jobs that has to be done on a regular basis can be combined in scripts (and the scripts can be scheduled or started through an event) to automate these recurring jobs.

Audience

The course is designed for Service Partner and customer engineers who are required to install, configure and maintain the MiVoice MX-ONE™.

Prerequisites

The Linux Advanced course is designed for Service Partner and customer engineers with about 6 month of Linux and MiVoice MX-ONE field experience.

Objectives

The MiVoice MX-ONE Linux Advanced course was developed to give engineers who are required to install, configure and maintain the MiVoice MX-ONE comprehensive knowledge about the vast functionalities of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (the operating system of the MiVoice MX-ONE) and how these can be used to extend and improve the functionality of the MiVoice MX-ONE.
The course provides in-depth knowledge on a number of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 10) features that are relevant to the MiVoice MX-ONE.

Methods

The Linux Advanced course is an instructor led course providing an equal mix of theoretical delivery and practical exercises. Equipment will be available to enable students to install, configure and test the functions listed above.

Content

Using a balanced mix of theory and practical exercises, the Linux Advanced course covers the following topics:

  • Location and content of important log files
  • Log file handling and management
  • Advanced configuration of syslog-ng (central log file on server1, log filter …)
  • Configure MiVoice MX-ONE to send alarms (and other log messages) by mail
  • Backup and imaging of data and whole partitions or hard disks
  • Backup management and scheduling
  • Advanced configuration of Linux HA (High Availability)
  • Integrating DNS, NTP and other Linux services on MiVoice MX-ONE in existing infrastructures
  • Bonding of NICs and MAC address management
  • Using FTP server for distribution of Linux service packs
  • Advanced configuration of SSH
  • Shell programming, scripting
  • Basic script elements (branches, iterations, loops)
  • Regular expressions
  • Useful commands for shell scripts
